What is auditory neurotechnology?

Auditory neurotechnology focuses on understanding and interacting with the nervous system to measure, modulate, and restore auditory function. This includes neural interfaces, brain-computer devices, and implantable systems that can acquire and process neural signals or deliver responsive stimulation. These technologies are paving the way for high-quality brain-machine interfaces, wearable electronics, and therapeutic devices.

What we do

At the NeW (Neural Waves) lab, part of GASP, we combine medicine, engineering, and psychology to develop next-generation auditory neurotechnology. Our work focuses on:

  • Design soft, minimally invasive neural interfaces for safe long-term use
  • Study the auditory-neurological pathway and brain function
  • Develop diagnostics and therapies beyond current hearing devices
  • Create micro- and nano-scale materials for better tissue interaction
  • Build interdisciplinary biomedical devices to improve health
  • Support a collaborative environment for diverse research
